To install GDLedit for Vim, you can simply
copy the downloaded VIM file to your home directory and then use the
command :source ~/gdl.vim to switch highlighting on.
Alternatively, perform the following steps:
1. Copy the downloaded VIM file to the directory $VIMRUNTIME/syntax/
2. Add the following line to your .vimrc file (this file is usually
to be found in your home directory):
:autocmd BufNewFile,BufRead *.{gdl,vcg} source $VIMRUNTIME/syntax/gdl.vim
(Normally, the value of $VIMRUNTIME is ~/.vim.)
Now, Vim should automatically recognize GDL and VCG files.
You can switch highlighting off and on in the editor by using the commands
:syn off and :syn on.

:help syntax. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate
