All file operations are supported by a
File Selector dialog box to select a file name.
The submenu File offers the following file operations:
Open File...
Opens the File Selector dialog box to select a file
name. A new graph specification is read from the file selected, a layout
calculated, followed by the graph being displayed.
Reopen File (g)
This operation causes the file containing the current graph specification
to be read again, the layout recalculated and the graph displayed again.
It can also be invoked by pressing the 'g' key. Note: This operation does
not work if the current graph specification is read from <stdin>.
VCG1.0 Save...
Opens the File Selector dialog box to select a file name.
The graph currently displayed is then written to the file selected along with
some calculated layout parameters. Note: This is a legacy feature providing
compatibility to VCG v.1.0. It may not work for graph specifications that
contain any newer GDL features.
As opposed to the Windows version, there is no direct
interface for printing graphs. However, graphs or parts of graphs can
be exported to files in several formats for which many printer drivers
are available. Exporting is done via the Export dialog box.
Print/Export Part...
A rectangular rubberband is used to select part of the graph
currently shown in the display window. To facilitate selecting
the part to be exported it is useful to scale the graph down to
a size so that this part is entirely visible. (This will not
influence the scaling factor for the export. This factor can
only be changed in the Export dialog box.)
Selecting is done like this:
- Press the left mouse button and
hold it down: The rubberband appears.
- Drag it over the area of the graph
to be exported followed by releasing the mouse button.
The Export dialog box pops up.
Note: It is not possible to export parts of a
graph if splines have been used for drawing the edges.
Print/Export Graph...
Opens the Export dialog box.
