Press release

IST Prize Winner logoSaarbrücken, Germany, 15 July 2003 — AbsInt Angewandte Informatik GmbH, a worldwide leader in static program analysis, timing validation and compiler optimization, has today been awarded a 2004 European IST Prize for its new product line, aiT WCET Analyzers, outplaying 400 distinguished competitors from 28 countries. The selection criteria for the Prize were: Technical excellence, innovative content, potential market value and capacity to generate new jobs.

The European IST Prize is the most prestigious award for groundbreaking products that represent the best of European innovation in Information Society Technologies. Winners are selected by the European IST Prize evaluation group of independent experts, nominated by Euro-CASE, a European non-profit-making organisation of national Academies of Engineering, Technologies and Applied Sciences from 18 European countries.

420 innovative projects from 28 countries competed for this year's Prize, among which 20 Winners have been selected, including the aiT WCET Analyzers from AbsInt.

About aiT

aiT WCET analysis resultsaiT WCET Analyzers automatically compute tight bounds for the worst-case execution time (WCET) of tasks in real-time, safety-critical systems. Currently, aiT is the only tool worldwide that is capable of statically analyzing a task's intrinsic cache and pipeline behavior based on formal cache and pipeline models. This enables correct and tight upper bounds to be computed for the WCET.

aiT-computed WCET bounds reflect the actual performance of the system; guaranteeing the task deadlines to be met is no longer paid with a waste of hardware resources. Safety-critical systems can be designed smaller and more cost-effectively.

Thanks to the underlying technique of abstract interpretation, the analysis results provided by aiT are valid for all inputs and each execution of a task. The Analyzers compute the results automatically, replacing error-prone methods based on measuring and testing. Thus, aiT WCET Analyzers not only save valuable development time; they also enhance safety of embedded systems.
